What a Beautiful Day!

Sunday, April 13th, 2014

Today was a perfect spring day! It was a pleasure spending time in the early afternoon with my husband and then later going out to dinner with my niece and nephew and their two wonderful kids. It is so important to keep connected with family and friends, especially as we get older.

Children are exposed to so many educational tools on the computer and the many other technological gadgets today that they seem much brighter and more verbal than children were years back when I first started teaching. I am very happy to see the change, but I have one important suggestion. They should read more classics and books of all types of genres. I know they are busy with school projects, and they do have to read a certain number of books for their English assignments, but I would like to see them read each day from a book of their own choice that they are impassioned to read. Reading is such an important activity for all of us for so many reasons. Another time I will write a whole blog just on the benefits of reading books of one’s own choice every day.

I am sorry for the brevity of this blog, but I shall try to do much better in the future. Even when you are retired, friends, there are still so many things to do! And that is good, of course, but it does take time away from my blogging.

Until the next time, I remain your fellow blogger and friend,

What a Lovely Day!

Monday, April 7th, 2014

The brutal winter is over! Spring has been with us for weeks now, and it is time for me to continue blogging.

I have been very busy the last month or so, and there was just not enough time to sit down and write. From now on I will try to write a little each day on a variety of topics.

I am looking forward to starting work soon on my garden. I want a variety of flowers in the front yard and vegetables in the back. I can’t wait until the ground is warm enough to start planting. I usually begin around Mothers Day.

I also look forward to writing at least an hour or so each day. It has been a while since my last novel, “Escape From the Maelstrom,” was published. I have to get back in the habit of writing on a regular basis. I am excited about writing another poetry book.

Since it is late in the evening now, I will stop for now, but I will be at my computer tomorrow afternoon writing a new blog. Have a restful night.

Until the next blog,

Best wishes,
